Thomas Leighton Frye

Thomas Leighton Frye, age 78, died Thursday (July 27, 2017) at Penick Village in Southern Pines.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Union Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Shane Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the home of Daniel Frye, 278 Hulsey Road, Carthage.
Born and raised in Cameron he was the son of the late Daniel Grady Frye & Elsie Crutchfield Frye. He served his country in the United States Army and was the owner and operator of Leighton Frye Landscaping & Excavating, Inc. and Leighton Frye & Sons Trucking. He loved watching and participating in tractor pulls, and growing large gardens each year to share throughout the community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant brother, Howard Frye.
He is survived by three children, Angela Frye Whiteford (Dan) of Trinity, Thomas L. Frye, II (Tracie) of Fayetteville & Daniel Frye (Kristy) of Cameron; their mother, Brenda Brooks of Vass; a brother, Kenneth Frye (Shirley) of Carthage; sisters, Betty Bottoms of Trinity, Louise "Tookie" Stewart of Broadway, Leta Smith (Jimmy) of Cameron & Carolyn Singleton (Dwayne) of Conway, SC; and six grandchildren, Tanner & Bailey Grace, Leighton Chance, Caleb Thomas, Reagan and Abigail.

So sorry to hear about Mr Frye. I knew him through Kenneth. He always loved to hear my granddaughter Megan sing and she looked forward to seeing him and Kenneth and Shirley whenever she sang at Community Friends.
