Thomas Wayne Caddell, 83, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at his home.

Born and raised in Moore County, Wayne was the son of the late Grady B and Annie Mae Richardson Caddell.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine “Tootie” Caddell Cole.

In his younger years, Wayne was a truck driver and drove routes all along the East coast of the United States and eventually ran routes across the country to California.  A plumber by trade, he started Caddell Plumbing in 1977, which is now a third-generation owned company.  He enjoyed travelling by RV for weeks at a time and especially enjoyed trips to Yellowstone National Park and Fort Meyers Beach, FL.  Over the years, he and Shirley visited all fifty states.  His home away from home was at Cherry Grove beach where he spent many hours enjoying the view.  He was a collector of antique cars and took great pride in restoring them with his grandsons.  He was the proud owner of a 1955 Ford Victoria, a 1974 Ford Bronco, and a 1979 El Camino.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids and never missed a school or sporting event.  He loved family traditions like decorating the Christmas tree, birthday parties, and dyeing Easter eggs with his grandchildren.  Wayne was a volunteer with the Carthage Fire Department for more than 20 years.  He grew up attending and was a member of Carthage First Baptist Church.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Shirley Maness Caddell, of Carthage; two sons, Wes Caddell, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Carthage and Scott Caddell, and his wife, Kasi, of Cameron; six wonderful grandchildren, Amy Madison Wilkes (Jared), B Caddell, Tad Caddell, Lila Mae Caddell, Greer Caddell, and Elise Caddell; one beautiful great-granddaughter, Milleranne Kate Wilkes; niece, Vicki Frye (Bruce), of Carthage; and nephew, Lynn Inman (Nancy), of Mebane.
