Vesta Eva Davis

Vesta Eva D avis , lovingly known as "little mama" left this world to enter into eternal rest on Sunday, July 31, 2016. She died at home, Beacon Cottage,where she had lived since September 3, 1975.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:30 pm on September 14, 2016 at the Murdoch Developmental Center Chapel with Dr. Willis Herman presiding.

Burial of ashes will be held at Beacon Cottage immediately following the service. Cremation services were provided by Powell Funeral Home, Inc in Southern Pines, NC who also graciously brought some of Vesta’s ashes home. Vesta was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on December 8, 1934. She was the first child born to her parents, George Coleman Davis and Frederica M Dormer Davis. Vesta has called Murdoch Center her home first in 1960 - 1972 and then permanently since August 30, 1974.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Clayton Davis.

Survivors include two sisters Mary Stephens and Karen Jenkins and one brother Martin Davis. Vesta also leaves behind a host of staff who loved her for many years and have mourned her passing.
