Virginia Susan Carter Sowder, 63, of Cameron passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on Monday, April 6,2015.
A memorial service will be held 4;00 PM, Friday, April 10 at Kendale Freewill Baptist Church, on Cemetery Road, Sanford, N.C. The family will also receive friends at 875 Piney Church Road in Cameron.
Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. Her smile, laughter and loving support would bring sunlight to the dreariest day. Susan was a gentle, loving caregiver to several family members in their final days. The world was blessed when Susan was born.
Susan was born April 1,1952 to the late Ernest and Nancy Carter in Lee County.
Susan is survived by her husbandof 46 years, Charles Sowder; children Donna Houston (Chris), Chuck Sowder, Gary Sowder, Gina Hedden (Jonathan), all of Cameron, Lorie Ayala (Elmer) of Clayton. Sisters Marsha Williams of Sanford, Cindy Bullock (Chester) of Alabama; brothers Lane Carter (Anita) of Cameron, Tim Carter (Melody) of Virginia. Nine grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Fry and Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage is assisting the family.
