William R. “Bill” Wilkinson, age 77 of Carthage went home to be with his Lord Saturday (March 15, 2014) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

 

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday at Bible Tabernacle. Burial will follow with military honors in the church cemetery.

 

Born in Millville, NJ he was a son of the late Edward and Frances Abdill Wilkinson. He was a US Navy veteran where he served on the USS Boston, the first ship to carry guided missiles. After moving to North Carolina he owned an operated Pineland Screen Printing for many years and also was a newspaper deliverer for The Pilot, Sanford Herald and Fayetteville Observer.

 

Bill was preceded in death by: a son Darrin Wilkinson; a grandson Paul Rivera; sisters Edna Kerr, Elsie Higgins, Betty Jane Ryan and Alice Creach; and a brother Edward “Eddie” Wilkinson.

 

He is survived by his wife Rosemarie Kohring Wilkinson; daughters Dawn Rivera and husband Pablo of Carthage, Linda Lynn and husband Steven of Carthage; sons Michael Wilkinson and wife Sandy of Sanford, Kenneth Wilkinson of Carthage; sister Bernice Higgins of Texas; grandchildren Lena Yarter and husband Rob, Stephanie Lynn and Rachel Wilkinson; great-grandchildren Ryan, Jocelyn and Kyle Yarter.

 

The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church and any other time at the home.
