Mr. William Lawton Johnson, Sr. passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020, in the Grayson Rehabilitation & Health Center in Independence, Virginia at the age of 78.
Mr. Johnson was born on December 21, 1941, to the late Lemuel and Mary Suttles Johnson. He was a member of the New Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Aberdeen. He was preceded in death by his son, Theodore Johnson; brothers, Hubert Johnson and Eugene A Johnson; his sister, Louise Westbrook
He is survived by his son, Billy Johnson and his wife, Bonnie of Southern Pines; his daughters, Laura Gwyn and her husband, Danny of Galax, VA, Teresa Black and her husband, Larry of Carthage; his brother Lemuel M. Johnson Jr. of Aberdeen; his sisters, Shirley Hearn of West End; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in the Highland Baptist Church Cemetery.
He will not be forgotten in our family. He was a kind loving soul. It breaks my heart to know he’s gone. I know Buster has gone on heaven …a place of no sickness or pain.
