William Phillips "Bill" Bowman born May 16, 1943 died Monday, August 10, 2015.

He was the son of the late John R. Bowman and Elizabeth Muse Ruth.  He is survived by his wife, Nancy Paschal Bowman of the home and sons, William "Jay" Bowman of Glendon and John Bowman and wife, Krystle of Carthage; daughters, Catherine B. Carpenter & husband, Kip of Bumpass, VA and Lee Ann Bowman of Knoxville, TN; grandsons, Thomas, Julian and Daniel Bowman, Samuel Carpenter and Matthew McCrimmon and granddaughter, Lauren McCrimmon; sisters, Ann B. Ivey & husband, Wayne of Madison, AL, Camellia B. Tracey of Carthage and Debra B. Chambers of Oxford, AL; sister-in-law Martha Paschal McNeill and husband, Lee of Carthage; cousin and very good friend, Gretchen W. Monroe and husband Dale of Moorehead City, NC; close friend John T. Rohach of Hartwell, GA who has been referred to as "my third son" for many years. 

Bill loved the Lord and was an active member of Fair Promise UMC.  His hobbies were deer and quail hunting and gardening.  He enjoyed sports, Alabama Crimson Tide football; Duke basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball.  The last 12 years he played "Santa Claus" at various churches, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, pre-schools, Carthage Library and for "special needs children" of any age.  He had the looks and personality for it and always reminded children that Christmas gifts represented the greatest gift we have ever received, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Fair Promise United Methodist Church, 192 Glendon Carthage Road, Goldston, NC.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service and at other times at the home.
