Abert Vant Markham Jr. (Jack), 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Robbins on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. 

Born in Chatham County on February 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Abert and Lillie Cheek Markham. 

Vant was a member at Crossroads Community Church. He liked fishing, hunting, tinkering, gardening, and watching westerns. He always looked forward to and enjoyed his fishing trips at the beach with his buddy James. He enjoyed spending time with all of his family, especially his grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Libby Brown Markham; son: Terry Glenn Markham. 

Vant is survived by his daughter: Sherry Enloe and husband Michael of Robbins; grandchildren: Rebecca Sheffield and husband Joey of Robbins, Samantha Silva and husband Marco of Carthage, Teresa Brown of Robbins, Kayla Enloe of Robbins, Ricky Brown of Randleman; great grandchildren: Rylee and Dalton Sheffield, Anna and Terry Silva, Hayden and Kyle Rogers, Lynleigh and Brooklyn Allred and Mattie Brown; second wife: Sylvia Farlow Markham. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 2 pm at Brown’s Chapel Christian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Kennedy Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends at Sherry’s home.
