Agustus 'Gussie' Marion

Augustus ‘Gussie’ Monroe Marion, age 79, of Carthage passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the ManorCare Health Services facility in Pinehurst with her son by her side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 10, 2012 at Culdee Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joseph Washburn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends immediately following the funeral service in the church fellowship hall.
Gussie was born in Moore County on April, 24, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Augustus Adam Monroe and Elizabeth ‘Besty’ Morrison Monroe. She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Adam Monroe, her daughter Linda Marion Powers, and her husband Floyd Gilmer Marion. Gussie is survived by her sons, Johnie Ellis Marion and wife Connie; Ronnie Michael Marion and his wife Cathy; and Gary Kent Marion; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren all of Carthage.

We were so sorry to learn of Gussie’s passing. She and I were friends growing up and Gilmer was Robert’s cousin. My sister, Valeria Hardy, ran into her many times in the grocery store and they would chat with each other on different occasions. We will kee
