Alton (Hoopie) Bunnell

Alton W. (Hoopie) Bunnell, age 78 of US Hwy 15-501, died Monday (June 19, 2006) at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage.
Funeral services were 2:00 P. M. Wednesday at Culdee Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Chris Bobo and the Rev. Roger Thomas. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a son of the late Layton and Eliza Carter Bunnell and was a U.S. Army Veteran. An employee of the Moore County Maintenance department for many years, he later was employed in the maintenance department of Central Carolina Community College in Sanford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce McKenzie Bunnell.
He is survived by: three daughters. Linda Cox and husband Tommy of Cameron, Gayle Frye and husband William of Carthage and Sandra D. Bunnell of Carthage; a sister Elizabeth Hearn of Cameron; three brothers Gerald Bunnell of Cameron, Phillip Bunnell of Southern Pines and Barney Bunnell of Cameron; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
