Ann R. Watson

Ann Reardon Watson died January 2, 2010 in Wilson NC. She was born in Quincy MA, on November 28, 1926. She was the daughter of Timothy Edward Reardon and Mary Louise Curry Reardon. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Claire Reardon Henehan and Kathleen Reardon Grant. Mrs. Watson was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Charles F. Watson and one son Timothy E. Watson.
Mrs. Watson was a 1948 graduate of the Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing. Afterwards she served as a First Lieutenant in The US Army Nurse Corps, prior to and during the Korean War. During her Army career she received commendations, one of which was for saving the life of a child. Her last nursing affiliation was with St. Joseph of the Pines, as a night supervisor, in Southern Pines NC. She and her husband retired to the Sandhills of North Carolina to enjoy their family, friends and their favorite past time, golf.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her brother Timothy Edward Reardon of Hingham MA., her four sons; James F. Watson and wife Monae of Vass NC, William E. Watson of Rockingham NC, Robert M. Watson and wife Karen of Wilson NC, and Darryl C. Watson of Pinebluff NC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren Jonathan Watson and wife Casey of Burlington VT, Brian Watson of Hertford NC, Sheryl Ann Watson of Wilson NC , Kenna Watson, Cassidy Watson and Neil Watson of Vass NC, Ryan Watson and Leah Watson of Pinebluff NC and one great grandson Jaron Timothy Watson of Burlington VT.
The family will be receiving friends and family from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday January 6th at Powell Funeral Home, 106 East New Hampshire Ave, Southern Pines. The funeral will be officiated by Monsignor Jeffery Ingham at St Anthony of Padua Church in Southern Pines at 2:00 pm on Thursday January 7th. Internment will be at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines NC.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pope John Paul II Catholic School Scholarship Fund.
