Annie Melba Cole
October 22, 1923 ~ January 25, 2017
Mother Annie Melba Cole went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 25, 2017. She was born in Carthage, North Carolina on October 21, 1921 and lived a wonderful life for 95 years. Melba was the daughter of the late Harrison and Bessie (Morrison) Cagle. She was married to Julius Tom Cole for 56 years. Melba attended Pickney High School and Fayetteville State College. She was the proud mother to her only child, Alexander Cagle.
Mother Cole was the Southern District Mother of the United Church of God, Greensboro, North Carolina. She was also the mother and oldest member of St John’s United Church of God.
Fondest memories of Mother Cole’s life will be cherished by her son, Alexander Cagle (Evaughn) of Akron, Ohio, 4 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Tom Cole, brother, Irvin Cagle, sisters, Lozie Cagle and Chattie Mae Haywood.
Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Mt. Olive AME Zion Church with viewing starting at 12:00 noon with services following at 1:00 pm.. Pastor Angela Davis will be Officiating and Elder Charleston Hester of St. John’s United Church of God will be performing the eulogy.
Mother Cole’s services are entrusted to Fry & Prickett Funeral Home where flowers can be sent. In lieu of flowers, donations to “Mother Melba Cole’s Missionary Fund” can be sent to P. O. Box 704 Carthage, North Carolina 28327. Please make checks payable to St. John’s United Church of God.
