Archie Clayton Peele

Archie C. Peele, Sr., age 81, died Monday (August 4, 2014) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

 

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. William Cooper and the Rev. Dr. William J. Maness, Jr. Burial will follow with military honors at Trinity Bible Church Cemetery.

 

A native of Moore County he was a son of the late Charlie C. Peele and Myrtle Quick Peele. He was a US Army veteran serving in the 94th Field Artillery Regiment during the Korean Conflict and later serving in the National Guard. He retired after a long career with the North Carolina Department of Correction where he worked as a Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by: sisters Catherine Fry, Margaret Maness, Ruth Griffin and Hattie Cates, and  a brother Vance Peele.

He is survived by: his wife of 61 years Nellie Boyte Peele; daughters Elizabeth Ann Hayes and husband Gerald, Lisa Buie and husband Timmy; sons Archie C. Peele, Jr. and wife Peggy, Tommy C. Peele and wife Melanie all of Carthage; brother Charlie Peele and wife Linda of Pittsboro; grandchildren Jennifer Caviness, Jessica Riley, Christy Donathan, Tommy Peele, Jr. and Kellie Buie; great-grandchildren Laura Caviness, Mikayla Riley, Dawson Levi Smith, Scott Riley, III, Brandon Donathan and Matthew Donathan.

 

The family will receive friends at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and other times at the home.
