Audrey Mitchell Tedder DeLong, 83, of Aberdeen passed away on January 24, 2017 in Summerville, SC.

 

Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:15 pm followed by funeral services officiated by the Reverend Mike Branscome at 2:30 pm Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Powell Funeral Home & Crematory, 160 E. New Hampshire Ave. Southern Pines, NC 28387

 

Burial will take place after the funeral service at Bethesda Cemetery, Bethesda Road, Aberdeen, NC 28315

 

Audrey was born in Fairmont, NC to Clarence Lee and Margaret Belle Mitchell Tedder on September 7, 1933. She went to Fairmont High School and upon graduation attended the Raleigh Secretary School in Raleigh, NC. She was a devoted wife to Walter Hatcher DeLong, a Danville Virginia native. They married in Fairmont NC and settled in Aberdeen, NC, where she worked as an Administrative Secretary for the NC Department of Transportation's Division of Highways. She was passionate about her profession and returned to work for some time after her retirement in 1997. She was involved for a time in the Garden Club and enjoyed floral arranging and other activities.

 

She was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Belle Tedder and brothers, John C.Tedder, Byron Lee Tedder and William Charles Tedder

 

She is survived by her sons, James Alan DeLong and wife Sim Lee of Eldorado, NC and Walter Hatcher DeLong Jr. and wife Mary Ellen of Summerville, SC; Brothers C.L. Tedder and wife Bobbie of Holly Springs, NC, Donald Tedder and wife Faye of Clemmons, NC, and Randall Tedder of Fairmont, NC. Her grandchildren, Joshua DeLong and wife Ashley, Kalan Horn, Bridgette Alexandria, Jacob DeLong, Nathan DeLong and wife Allison, Matthew DeLong, Joanna DeLong, Elizabeth DeLong and Maria DeLong; Great Grandchildren, Riley and Andie Horn.

 

Powell Funeral Home and Crematory of Southern Pines, NC is assisting the family.
