Barbara Marley Saunders, age 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 10th, 2021.

A native of Moore County she is the daughter of the late Paul and Rillie McNeil Marley.

Barbara was a sweet, caring, and compassionate person. She was a loving mama, nana, sister, friend, and companion.  Her beautiful smile could light up a room.  She loved spending time reminiscing with family and sharing a few good laughs.  All those conversations will be greatly missed by those who knew her.  She thoroughly enjoyed celebrating people she loved on holidays and special life events with thoughtful gifts that were unique to each person, she especially treasured doing this for her grandchildren.  Barbara had a big heart for animals and adored taking care of any animal that was in need.  She was a very dependable person who could be counted on to be there if you needed her.  She relied heavily on her faith in God and cherished attending church at Guiding Light Baptist Church in Star.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Tonya Saunders Parks along with her husband Daniel Parks and grandchildren Trent and Tori.  Brother Tharrell Marley and sisters Diane Brady and Sharon Nall.  She is also survived by her companion Ted Kearns who held a very special place in her heart along with his son Dylan Kearns.

  5. I always enjoyed working with Barbara – she was a delight ! She knew her job and was so responsive and took time to solve problems. As a contract admin she came in contact with alot of customers and they all loved her. Her attention to detail made a difference! She always did an awesome job. She will be missed. Thinking of her family and sending hugs.

  6. I had the privilege of working with Barbara for many years. As a contract admin, there would be times she would refer matters to the Legal Department for handling. We would talk through the business at hand and then take a few moments to share updates on our families. There would be a change in Barbara’s tone, perhaps best described as a smile in her voice, when she spoke of her daughter, Tonya, and her grandchildren, Trent & Tori. I’ve missed the interaction with Barbara over the past months and her passing creates a void for many at Peak Technologies. With heartfelt sadness, please accept my sincere condolences.

  11. I am so sorry to hear of Barbara’s passing. She’s rejoicing with the Lord and pain free now. She will be missed but she will never be forgotten. I grew up with her and Sharon and have been neighbors as long as I can remember. Oh the good memories I will always cherish.

  12. Tonya I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I’m praying for you and your family.

  13. Tonya, it is a great sadness to lose a mother who was so vital and so youthful–and who set the model for living you have followed in all you do with family, friends, colleagues here at SCC, and your students. For those who have lost their mothers, we know too well the sadness of these first days of absence, but we know too that, very soon, she will creep unexpectedly into moments of each and every day to light your way, to make you smile and some silly memory of time shared, or just to visit with some words that echo from the past but fit so perfectly in these days. You are a testimony to the best of who she was and what she wanted for the people with whom she shared this life, and we all wish you safe travels in these darker days.

  14. So sorry for your loss. Barbara was so sweet and such a good friend.

  16. I am so sorry for your loss. Barbara was great to work with and I wish I had gotten to know her better. We worked together for 8 years before I was able to meet her in person at a co-workers retirement. At least we did get to meet once in person. Rest in Peace Barbara.
