Bernice Callender Brewington, age 79 died Sunday (October 5, 2008) at her residence.
A private burial will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, and a memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Pittsboro Seventh-day Adventist Church of which she was a member conducted by Pastor Kenneth Blake. The family will receive friends prior to and following the service in the fellowship hall.
A native of Manhattan, NY she was a daughter of the late Fitz Herbert and Hulda Henry Callender. She was a retired claims investigator for the State of New York. Upon retiring she and her husband H. Marshall Brewington moved to Sanford where together they operated an upholstery business until his death in 2003.
She was preceded in death by her brother Herbert E. Callender.
Survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
