Bertha Goins Petty, age 87 of Jackson Terrace died Wednesday (February 6, 2008) at the residence of her daughter Donnie Spencer in Southern Pines.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Reeves Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in the old Reeves Chapel Cemetery.
A native of Moore County she was a daughter of the late Thomas Goins and Sarah J. Phillips Goins. She was preceded in death by: her husband Milo Petty who died in 1992, a daughter Rebecca Harris and a son Charles W. Petty.
He is survived by: five daughters Donnie Spencer of Southern Pines, Dorothy Lewis of NY, Gay Bynum of Goldston, Shirley Petty and Ann Gaines both of Charlotte; sister Georgia Cofland of VA; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 —8:00 PM Saturday at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Donnie Spencer, 485 N. Hardin Street, Southern Pines.

I would like to say that my heart goes out to the family during this time of need. Just trust in God and know that he loved her best. She is sitting on the right hand of God the father.
