Bertha Hamilton Tietz, age 84 died Wednesday at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 25, 2011 in the Chapel at Pine Knoll. A reception will follow the service.
Born in Lenox, Ohio to James & Tillie Hamilton where she lived on the farm until 1945 when she moved to Cleveland, Ohio to pursue her career as a secretary. She married Werner Tietz in 1954 where they lived in Bethpage, Long Island, NY. She retired in 1980 and moved to Carthage, NC. She did volunteer work at the Sandhill's Little Theater and the Sandhill's Coalition for Human Care. She currently lived at St. Joseph of the Pines, Pine Knoll Community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Werner; two brothers, Minor & Quinton Hamilton and a sister, Virginia.
She is survived by two children; a son, Kim Tietz and wife, Catherine of Philadelphia, PA and a daughter, Jill Campbell and husband, Richard; from Asheville NC and one granddaughter, Jessica L. Campbell from Wilmington NC

Bertha was my friend for over 60 years. She helped me through my teenage years. She showed me how to prepare healthy meals. I baby sat Bertha’s children when they were born. Jill was our flower girl when I got married in 1962. Bertha was an amazing woman
