Betty Haynes Woodward, 86, of Carthage, went to be with her Lord on May 5, 2024 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. 

Betty was native of Surry County, born to the late General Lee and Susie Crissman Whitt.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who never met a stranger. She worked many years in textiles and other various places, as well as being a homemaker and caregiver.

Throughout the years she enjoyed baking, singing, dancing and sharing her infectious laugh. She was a devout charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, who always shared the love of Jesus everywhere she went. To know her was to love her. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Haynes and daughter, Eva Stanley, second husband Rodwell Woodward, 3 brothers. and 1 sister. 

She is survived by her children: Joyce (David) Taylor, Gary (Kim) Haynes, Linda (Mike) Grissom, Renee (Roger) Wood, 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. and her dog Trixie. 

Family and friends are welcome to visit at the home of David & Joyce Taylor. 800 Jody Carthage NC. 28327. 

 Funeral service will be 5:00 PM, Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carthage followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 3:30 PM.
