Betty Hussey Dunlap
February 2, 1934 ~ November 25, 2021
Betty Hussey Dunlap, of Robbins NC, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday November 25, 2021 at the age of 87.
She was born February 2, 1934 to the late James Bertie and Rosa Margaret Hussey of Seagrove, NC. Betty and Mack Lee Dunlap were married for 37 years, until his passing in 1987. A faithful servant to her heavenly Father, loving homemaker and talented seamstress, Betty was cherished throughout the community for her humility, selfless care for others, and abiding friendships. She showered each grandchild with love and a treasured quilt upon their graduations and marriages. Through her sewing and quilting, she contributed to so many celebrations of births, proms, and weddings, becoming an extended part of each of those families. She was an avid reader, loved her garden and flowers, and cared deeply for her fur-babies. Among her most cherished memories was the 85th birthday celebration, decorated with her many beautiful quilts on display, where she was joined by a large gathering of family and friends from the church and community.
Betty is survived by her beloved sister, Shirley Jarrell of Randleman NC, son Johnny Dunlap (Pam) and daughters Marilynn Youngs (Andrew), Margaret Garner and Amy Garner (Tony). She loved spending time with her family of thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Mack, oldest son Roger, grandson Trapper, brothers Garland, Archie, Sherman, Bobby and Jerry Hussey and sister Carolyn Webb.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM at Needham’s Grove Baptist Church, Seagrove NC on Saturday November 27, 2021 followed immediately by the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Reverend D J Harry and Reverend Arnold Comer. The burial service will then follow at Brown’s Chapel Church, Robbins NC.
In keeping with her generous giving spirit, the family requests donations, in lieu of flowers, made in her memory to the Cemetery Fund at either of the churches or the charity of your choice.

We thought a lot of Mrs Betty. She did sewing and alterations for us and never charged as much as she could and should have charged. She was definitely a special person with a concern for all she met. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of her family. Read Psalm 23 and John 14 for comfort, help and strength in this trying time. Lean on the Lord. He cares for you!!!

What a legacy Ms Betty Mac leaves behind! A true humble spirited lady whom I loved dearly. I have so many fond memories of her at Bertie and Rosie’s house, as well as her own house. I truly enjoyed our family get-togethers at Bertie’s, her beautiful flowers and all the alterations she did for me for many years. I will miss her so much. Family, I regret I will miss her home going services and celebration of life as I am out of town. Each of you are special to me and I will be thinking of you and praying for God’s comfort as you lay your precious mama to rest. God Bless each of you!

Miss Betty made my daughters Prom dress in 2011 and several shirts since then. She was very kind and caring! I was blessed to have met her several years back. My condolences.

Ms. Dunlap was such a talented, sweet, loving, and kind person. I was always impressed by her gift of being able to make my clothes fit just perfect and her kind spirit of not wanting to charge what it was worth to me. She was a blessing to my family. I am so sorry for the loss of Ms Betty. She will surely be miss by everyone who knew her. She did sewing for me and I visited with her and she told me about her beautiful flowers. Even gave me a few. Forever thankful to have known her.
Betty was such a blessing to all in our community, she had such a talent and my granddaughter said she could fix anything even when her dolly lost her leg she said take my dolly to Ms. Betty she would know what to do to help it get better. I told her that and she said that made her day. I am sure her talent helped so many .
