The world became a better place on July 30th, 1941 when Billy Joe Brady entered the world. Billy Joe Brady, age 79, passed away February 8th, 2021. A native of Bennett NC he was the son of the late Floyd and Dorothy Brady. He was preceded in death by brothers: Clifton, Recil, Paul and sisters Frances and Mary Lou. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dolores Upchurch Brady; children: Penny Brown(Mickey), Wendy Brady(Dale), Stacy Branch (Todd): grandchildren: Paige Evans(Micah), Will Brown(Alisha), Andrew Branch, Jackson Brown: great grandchildren: Malachi, Vivian Claire, Solomon and Judah Evans; brother: Raymond Brady; many nieces, nephews and friends. 

 

Reverend Billy Joe Brady was dedicated to the Lord and had a zeal for sharing the love of the Lord daily. He never missed a chance to let someone know that Jesus loved them. The churches he pastored over the years were Highfalls Wesleyan, Big Oak Christian, Community Baptist, Raeford EMC, Putnam Friends. He also served many churches over the years  in other capacities.  Outside his love of the Lord, came his pride and joy, his family. In his early days of preaching he also served the Moore County community with the Sheriff’s department as a  Deputy Sheriff and in communications and in the Highfalls Fire Department. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, checking out classic cars, and helping others by cutting their grass.

 

Private Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Robbins First Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Kenneth McNeill and Reverend Billy Chriscoe.  Public Committal service will follow at High Falls United Methodist Cemetery.  

 

The body will lie in repose form 2:00 till 5:00 PM, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Kennedy Funeral Home.

 

Please honor the family by following COVID precautions when attending the services.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Robbins First Baptist Church, P O Box 400, Robbins, NC 27325 or High Falls United Methodist Church, 547 River Road, Robbins, NC 27325.

  1. I’m so sorry for your loss! Billy Joe was a wonderful pastor, he preached my mother’s funeral and he and his precious wife stayed with us at the hospice house the night before she passed and he prayed with me and my family until late that night, I will never forget how good you all were to me and my family! Praying for you all in the days ahead may God give you peace, comfort and strength in the days ahead!

We love this man he was our preacher but he was one our Best Friend He was a big part of my Family he was a strong man and always on the move he would go out and shake the bushes as he would say he brought people too church that you thought would never would have came he didnt care who you was or your backgroundor color . Me and Dale enjoyed being with him and his wife going out to eat and them car shows taking them Mustang , and helping with those benefits we will never forget you Billy Joe, we love you .God bless and praying for all the Family.   19. It was our pleasure to get to know Billy Joe and Delores by sharing meals and fellowship at Little Village Restaurant. He was a jokester but always became serious when he spoke about the Savior. He was always ready to share a prayer request and to happily take one from us. We will miss his cheerful disposition but are rejoicing that he is with his Savior and Lord . We will certainly keep all his sweet family in our thoughts and prayers.   26. I really never got to meet him personally but I know one of ‘his daughters Stacy. He raised her to love the Lord and that is a testament of his love for God. He is resting in the Saviors arms that he told so many about and he is waiting for all of us to join him in that Heavenly home. Can’t wait to meet you in Heaven save us a seat at the table.

  30. I am certainly going to miss my “Neighbor”. When I was out and about in the community and ran into Billy Joe there was never a time that he didn’t speak to me. He was always so kind to me and my husband. Always ready for a good joke and a brief “howdy”. I am going to miss weekend Little Village breakfast visits and getting to speak to him. It has been 21 years this month since we both were saved under Billy Joe’s Preaching on Green Street in Raeford. He was a significant part of the change in our life due to the Gospel.   48. My heart goes out to all of the Brady family. Billy Jo and Delores, aka, Nana, are some if the most caring and loving people God ever created. I know” preacher” is shouting to be with his Lord and Ssvior, now. Praise God! He was definitely a man of God. He wanted to lead everyone he knew to salvation and save their souls from Hell…He was a great, strong Bible believing man and it showed in his daily walk. Both he and Nana were there for me when I needed comfort, and a shoulder to cry on. I thank God for leading me to the church Billy Jo lead for my convictions. He was a great preacher and personal friend ❤. I can almost hear him shouting from Heaven now.

  51. So sorry for your loss. Billy Joe was one of a kind. He loved people and cared about their salvation. He would do all he could to help others. Spent many days with him at my frame shop just chatting and talking about Jesus when he lived in Raeford. He was with me as my grandpa left this world. Such a great comfort to my family in our time of need. And last January came home to preach my grandmothers funeral. I could always count on him. He will be missed. Love you Nana and Stacie.
