Carolyn Bibey Dowd, age 83 of Carthage died Saturday, October 27, 2018 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. David Lee. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
A native of Moore County she was a daughter of the late Carlos Samuel Bibey and Floranna Monroe Bibey. Carolyn worked as cosmetologist at the Belvedere Hotel in Southern Pines early in life and also worked at Bibey Convenient Store in Carthage, and she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a sister Irene Miller and a brother John G. Bibey.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Joseph Dowd; daughters Gwen Vest and husband Junior of Carthage, Christine Vest and husband Robert of Carthage, Donna Calcutt and longtime companion Garland Ingram of Carthage; son Joe Dowd, Jr., of Carthage; brothers Joel Bibey and wife Geraldine of Shallotte, Jimmy Bibey of Carthage, Fred Bibey and wife Charlene of Southern Pines; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
