Cary Lee McLeod, Jr. passed from this life on May 24, 2008. A native of Moore County, he was the son of the late Rozella McCallum and Cary Lee McLeod. Services will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, May 27, at Eureka Presbyterian Church, where he was a life-long member. His family will greet visitors at the church beginning at 10:00 prior to the service.
A native of Moore County he was a son of the late Cary Lee McLeod and Rozella McCallum McLeod. Mr. McLeod earned a degree in agronomy from N. C State and was actively involved for many years with the Farm Bureau, which he served as president and treasurer. He was a certified crop advisor as well as a practicing farmer.
He was a founding member of the Carthage Medical Clinic Board of Directors. He served on the Moore County Zoning Board of Adjustment.
After retirement from "The Garden" he became an expert chair caner and enjoyed sharing his skill with many other people. He was generous with his time and had a story for every occasion.
Survivors include his sisters, Sarah Margaret and her husband William A. Stewart, Jr., Jane and her husband Eldon F. Thornton, and Ann Williams; nieces and nephews, June Thornton King and Allan Thornton of Faison, Nancy Thornton Hobbs of Greenwood, SC, Rachel Stewart and Wiley Stewart of Davidson, Alexander Stewart of Alexandria, LA, Douglas Williams of Winston-Salem and Dorcas Williams of Raleigh.
