Charles “PeeWee” Goins, 76, of Carthage, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 6, 1949, in Spring Lake, North Carolina, Charles was the son of the late John Henry Goins Jr. and Betty Elizabeth Mills. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Gwendolyn Goins; his stepsisters, Linda Carter and Terry Dinkens; and his stepfather, Charles Blalock.

In 1968, he and his new bride made their home in Carthage, where they built a life centered on faith, family, and community. Charles will be remembered for his steadfast faith and his deep love for his family. 

Charles was a hardworking and devoted man who spent many years as a truck driver and later worked for the State of North Carolina as a heavy equipment operator. He faithfully served as pastor of Carthage Church of God for more than ten years, sharing his love of the Lord with his congregation, community, and on missions to the island of Haiti. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Charles found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He especially cherished his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed quail hunting and playing golf in his younger years. 

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Hope Goins; his sons, Michael Goins and wife Jennifer of Apex, Timothy Goins and wife Nicole of Apex, and Adam Goins and wife Maegan of Carthage; his sister, Pamela Kos and husband Tim of Vass; his brother, Gary Blalock and wife Paula of Sanford; and his beloved grandchildren, Selah., Eden, Trinity, Ava, Jude, Connor, and Madison. He is also survived by his niece and nephews, Megan and Micah Tyler, and Jared and Sara Blalock, along with many other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Red Branch Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor John Stinnett, Sr., and Ethan Jackson will be officiating. The committal will follow the service at the church cemetery.

  3. Br. Charles was the best. He was my pastor at Carthage Church of God while I was a child. He was a great inspiration and the push behind me ever starting to play the piano. I thank God for him and the legacy he left behind. He will truly be missed, but I’ll see him again 💕
