Charles Larry Holder

Charles 'Larry' Holder, age 71, of the Haw Branch Community went home to be with the Lord on February 26, 2013.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 11:00 AM at Red Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott McInnis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The son of Charlie & Ada Holder, Larry was a lifelong member of Red Branch Baptist Church where he served as a past deacon and Sunday School teacher. Larry worked with the Baptist Mens Disaster Relief Team, traveled to Sri Lanka and other disaster sites helping rebuild homes for the needy. Larry was elected for five terms on the Moore County Soil & Water Conservation Board. He served as past president of the National Contract Poultry Growers Association. Larry worked tirelessly for poultry growers nationally, statewide and locally. He was a lifelong poultry grower. His past employment included Tax Appraiser for Moore and Lee County.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Margaret O'Brien Holder and sons, Wilson Holder and wife, Bethany and David Vallas; precious granddaughters, Sara Beth and Ada Grace Holder; a brother, Pete Holder of Carbonton and many loving nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Bill and Robert Holder and sisters, Inez Allen, Louise Gossett, Betty Sullivan and Polly Wheeler.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 1st from 6:00-8:00 PM at Red Branch Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the grandchildren's educational trust fund: Wilson Education No. 2 Trust, 1725 N Main Street, High Point, NC 27262.

I used to spend the night with Polly and the Holder family. I called them my extended family. Ralph drove the school bus, and he sometimes would not open the door, if it was raining. I can see him laughing now. Larry was just a little boy going into first
Larry was a great friend. He came from a good family and was an extension of his Dad Mr. Charlie. I will miss him so much. My prayers are with the family as you face each new day. God is able to take the hurt. Keep the good memories in you mind always. lo

Words cannot express the sadness in my heart with the news of Larry’s passing.
Although the only contact I had with Larry was by telephone or when he came to Oklahoma to visit Wilson and the girls, we had become close and I considered him my friend.
