Charles M. "Marbles" Dowd, age 73 of 2621 Dowd Rd., died Saturday (November 18, 2006) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be private.
A native of Moore County, he was a son of the late Peter and Fodie Seawell Dowd. He and his son, Michael, were owner-operators of Dowd's Motor Pool near Carthage. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan Nall Dowd, a sister Frances Baber, brothers Harold Dowd, Robert Dowd and Henry Dowd.
He is survived by: two daughters Debbie Dowd Childress and husband Steve of Carthage, Pam Dowd Cameron and husband Thomas of Carthage and a son Michael Dowd and wife Rachel of Carthage; two sisters Maude Frye and Betty Davis both of Pinehurst; two brothers Jimmy Dowd and David Dowd both of Carthage; five grandchildren Jeremy Dowd, Venus Brigman, Zach Childress, Chase Dowd and Austin Cameron; four great-grandchildren Henry Brigman, Trent Brigman, Gracie Dowd and Wyatt Dowd.
The family will receive friends 3:00 - 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the residence 2621 Dowd Rd., Carthage.
