Charles Phillip Sweet, 73, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at  FirstHealth Hospice House, Pinehurst, NC., surrounded by his family.

 

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Bright Light Baptist Church, with the Reverend Ralph VonCannon and Reverend William Hancock officiating.  Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Charles was a native of Havre de Grace, Maryland and served his country in the United States Army.  He worked for many years as an Electrician.  He loved his family and time spent with them was very important.  Charles enjoyed fishing, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed music, Gospel and Jazz; watching Family Feud, boxing  and on Sunday, Dr. David Jeremiah and Charles Stanley, when he was unable to attend church. Charles was a son of the late Charles Garnett and Catherine Nichols Sweet and was preceded in death by grandson: John Phillip Brock.

 

Charles is survived by  his wife of 53 years, Emma Carol; daughters: Maria Sweet Brock, Kay Sweet Frazier and husband Benjamin; son: Tommy Sweet and wife Tonya; grandchildren: Emily Denee’ Brock Lucas, LeAnn Sweet Yow, Samantha Barker Kennedy, Corbin Garnett Brock, Dalton Lee Sweet, James Austin Barker;  great grandchildren: Gavin, Jayden, Stetson,Easton, Kinsley; brother; Robert Lee Sweet and many friends.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Kennedy Funeral Home and other times at the home.

 

Memorials may be made to FirstHealth Hospice, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC  28374.
