Mr. Charlie Lewis Williams, formerly of Robbins, NC went peacefully to be with the his Lord and Savior on May 2, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones and family.  Just before taking his last breath, he had a brief smile on his face.

 

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Pleasant View Friends Church. Eagle Springs, NC, with the Reverend Jacelyn Jones officiating.  Burial with Military Honors, will follow in the church cemetery.

 

Mr. Williams was a son of the late Charlie and Etta Jane Currie Williams.  He was born in High Point, NC on March 21, 1926.  He was preceded in death by brother: Neulon Forest Williams, sister: Arlen Williams Monroe.

 

Lewis is survived by Special Friend, Nona Waddell; daughters: Judy Williams Fulbright and husband Larry, of Salisbury, NC, Sandra Williams DeHart, of Yorktown, VA.  Lewis is also survived by granddaughters: Kindra and Rhonda Fulbright; grandsons: Ray and Roy DeHart; great grandchildren: Caleb Foirtune, Shelby DeHart; sisters: Maxine McNeill, Leoma Barber, Mary Etta Brown, Yvonne Horner and husband Tom; brothers: Floyd Williams and wife Greer, JD Williams and wife Nancy, Wayne Williams  and wife Connie, Darrell Williams; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 

Lewis graduated from Elise High School and served his country in the United States Army,  during World War II as a Private 1st Class.  He was a POW in Germany before the war ended in 1945.

 

After his military service, he worked in the hosiery industry for over fifty years.  He retired from Ithaca Industries, North Wilkesboro, NC, as Vice President of the Hosiery Division.

 

Lewis had many interests, but his favorite hobby was his farm in the mountains of Virginia.  He loved to garden and work in his apple orchard.  He was also an avid golfer.  Many great weekends and other times were spent at his mountain home in the North Carolina mountains, as well.

 

He was a member of Pleasant View Friends Church in his younger days, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins, NC and at other time at the home of Floyd and Greer Williams, 1071 Talc Mine Rd., Robbins, NC.

 

The family offers their thanks for the excellent and compassionate care given by Hospice staff and the staff at Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, NC.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Pleasant View Friends Church, 13942 NC Hwy 24/27, Eagle Springs, NC, 27242.
