Clara Jean Kirk, age 93, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at her home in Aberdeen, surrounded by her family. 

Born on July 15, 1929, in Jackson Springs, Jean was a daughter of the late Hubert and Lillie Thomas Russell. 

She was a loving mother, grandmother and an extraordinary caregiver to anyone in need. Jean graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1950. Jean was a homemaker before going to work at Century Curtains for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years: Ervin Z. Kirk; siblings: Milton (Dixie) Russell, Juanita (Gene) Seawell, Alice McBride, Sue Darby, and Linda Garner. 

She is survived by her children: Gerald (Mickey) Kirk, Patricia (Matthew) Hudson, Stephen (Laureen) Kirk, Lori Kirk, Yvonne Kirk; siblings: Edith Smith and Lewis (Mary) Russell; grandchildren: Amy Kirk, John Kirk, Shannon Deese, April Andrade, Aaron Hudson, Josh Kirk, Nathan Kirk; 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 3 PM at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Jackson Springs. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

  6. I was shocked to learn this afternoon to here of Jean’s passing. She is and was one of my favorites. I was looking forward to seeing her tomorrow at the reunion. She will be dearly missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you go this loss.
