Colon F. Maness 85,  formerly of Maness Road, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016,  surrounded by his family.

 

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Pine Rest Cemetery, with the Reverend Ralph VonCannon officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM at Kennedy Funeral Home.

 

Colon was a native of Moore County.  He  worked in the furniture industry for many years.  He was a member of Bright Light Baptist and loved the Lord.  He was a vegetable gardener and enjoyed animals especially his dogs. Colon loved his family and enjoyed time spent with grandchildren best of all.  He enjoyed music, especially Bluegrass.  Colon is a son of the late Arthur and Swannie Lambert Maness and was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Burns Maness; step children: Swannie Grant, Vernon Freeman; siblings: Cletus Maness, Pauline Morgan, Curtis Maness and Clacy Maness.

 

Colon is survived by children and stepchildren: Freida Upchurch and husband Steve, Libby Garner and husband David, Rebecca Davis and husband Jerry, Edna Stewart and husband David, Brenda Freeman, Peggy Ward; 19 grandchildren: several great and great great grandchildren; sister: Patsy Maness Minor.
