Derek Kanoy Collins, age 28 of West End died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at his home.

 

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Doubs Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Laura Dunlap and  Rev.Tom Currie officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state beginning at 2:00 PM.

 

A native of Moore County he loved the outdoors and enjoyed farming.  He was a gifted musician, playing many instruments, he loved to share his music with others.  He enjoyed spending time at the outer banks and fishing there.  Derek was an avid Duke basketball fan. He was a loving son and brother and enjoyed family time best of all.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charles and Fannie Pettitt, uncles: Chad Collins and Rodney Pettitt.

 

He is survived by his parents: Keith and Shirley Pettitt Collins, brothers: Jeremy Collins and wife Lindsay, Travis Collins, Ben Collins, all of West End, grandparents: Waylon and Johnsie Collins and beloved pets: "Maddie and Plato”.
