Derek L. Black, 48, of Aberdeen, went to his heavenly father Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at McDonald's Chapel Presbyterian Church, 1374 Foxfire Road, Aberdeen. Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall.
He was born Feb. 1, 1964, to Carol Black and Stanley Black, of Aberdeen. He was a talented painter and had his own business for many years.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carson and Florence Black, and Leonard H. Sheffield. He is survived by his mother and father; his brother, Forrest Black; nephew, Drew Black; niece, Ashlee Black; and his grandmother (Nana), Evelyn McDonald Sheffield.
