Donnie Mae Petty was born on Monday, May 26, 1941 to the late Millow and Bertha Petty. She attended Moore County Schools and graduated from Pinckney High School. During her high school years, she met A.C. Spencer, and they married December 24, 1964. He preceded her in death in June 2022. She rested out of here peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024. 

Donnie was a longtime faithful member of Reaves Chapel AME Zion Church, where she attended until her health began to fail her. While there she served in the position of Deaconess for many years. She also served as treasurer of the Pastor’s Wives Committee. 

Donnie loved traveling with her family to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She loved bird watching, especially the hummingbirds. Donnie loved sitting outside in the sunshine. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, talking on the phone with her sisters, and chatting with her grandkids, being surrounded by her family, friends, and her grand dog Sokka. 

Donnie leaves a host of family and friends to cherish her memories: son; Andrew Jr (Penni), daughter; Adrienne (Charles), daughter; Antayna (Derrick). Three sisters Dorothy, Gay (George), Ann (Larry). Nine grandchildren: Cris, Jaylen, Sydnee, Tiffany, Kristen, Joshua, Brittany, Brandon and Michael. Seven great-grandchildren: Kaydence, JJ, Leila, Jax, Gianni, Isabella, and Saint. A few special friends who were always there like family: Her sister-in-law Sharon Spencer, Shelby McKeithen, and Alicia Hockaday, and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be 3 PM, Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home.
