Dorothy Frye Thomas, age 81, died Wednesday (12/7/2011) at St. Joseph of the Pines with her children by her side.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Summer Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Sims and the Rev. Lacy Frye officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Moore County she was the daughter of the late Benjamin L and Mary Brown Frye. She was a graduate of Carthage High School and in 1968 she enrolled at Sandhills Community College and earned her nursing degree. She worked for many years at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Mont Thomas and brothers, Benjamin L Frye, Radford Frye & Alex Frye.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay M. Thomas & husband, Greg of Cameron and Leona T. Riddle & husband, Sammy of Carthage and a son, Dan L. Thomas & wife, Marie of Carthage; one sister, Molly Williamson of St. Joseph of the Pines; 7 grandchildren, Michelle Stewart & husband, Jeremy of Southern Pines, Amie Karshner & husband, Grant of Aberdeen; Matthew Thomas of Cameron, Victoria Shooter & husband, Keith of Wagram; Carson Riddle & wife, Tiffany of Carthage; Katie Thomas & Samantha Thomas both of Carthage; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Friday at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Dan and Marie Thomas.
