Dorothy Hartsell
January 14, 1932 ~ December 24, 2018
Dorothy Ruth Frye Hartsell, 86, entered the presence of the Lord on Monday, December 24, 2018 at her home. Dot was the daughter of Claude T. Frye and Devona McKenzie Frye, of Carthage. She attended Carthage High School and was married to William F. Hartsell, Jr. of Pinehurst on March 3, 1948, after his return home from service in World War II. As a wife and homemaker, deeply devoted to her family, she and Willie were married 68 years at the time of his passing on January 27, 2017.
She was a kind, compassionate soul with a love for children, the elderly, and those less fortunate. She was a wonderful hostess and cook who enjoyed having all her children home, gathered around the table. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who adored all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She possessed a quiet spirit that displayed her faith and deep love for the Savior. Before her extended illness, she was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator. She is survived by her four children: Thomas Hartsell (and Pam) of Pinehurst, Michael Hartsell (and Brandy) of West End, Patricia Hartsell of the home, and James Hartsell (and Melissa) of Elm City; nine grandchildren: Andrew Hartsell, Allison Crissman, Lawana Hartsell, Douglas Hartsell, Noah Hartsell, Jamie Deaton, Nathaniel Hartsell, Aaron Hartsell and Kayla Williams; and 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchilren.
The family will receive friends at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Saturday, January 5 at 1:00 PM with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
