Earl Kenneth Dominie

Earl Dominie passed on Monday, April 3, 2023.

A visitation will be held at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage, N.C. on Monday, April 10th, 2023, at 6:00 – 8:00pm. 

A funeral service will be held at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage, N.C. on Tuesday, April 11th, 2023, at 1:00pm. The burial will follow at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Cemetery in Southern Pines, N.C. with Military Honors at 3:00 pm. 

He is survived by his wife Barbara E. Dominie of 55 years. Sons, Earl K. Dominie Jr. of Vass, N.C.; Bryan E. Dominie and wife Shannon Dominie of Carthage, N.C. Daughters, Lisa M. Marion and husband Alex Marion of Carthage, N.C.; Suzette A. Dominie of Pinebluff, N.C.; Kristine E. Dominie and significant other John Deskin “Bama” of Aberdeen, N.C. Earl had 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, a loving cat “Bella” and grand dogs “Dixie” and “Daisy”. Sister, Alberta A. Barkley of Ogdensburg, N.Y.; Brother, James W. Dominie, and wife Barbara A. Dominie of Texas, and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents William E. and Emma E. Dominie and his sister Marie Dominie. Earl’s in-laws, Basil, and Helen Lockwood. 

Earl graduated from Heuvelton Central School in Heuvelton, N.Y. where he was on the football team, Future Farmers of America “FFA”, and the wrestling team where he earned a letterman’s sweater. Earl married his high school sweetheart, Barbara on August 12th, 1967, at St Raphael’s Catholic Church in Heuvelton, N.Y. He joined the U.S. Navy in August of 1967. He graduated from the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman Medical Assistant in Great Lakes, Illinois in November of 1967. He served in the Pacific and Vietnam War as a Navy Hospital Corpsman Medical Assistant aboard the USS Ranger CVA-61. During these tours, the ship was awarded 13 Battle Stars. After serving his time he transferred to the Navy Reserves from 1969 to 1972 where he was Honorable Discharged in October of 1972 with an honorable medal from Vietnam along with other ribbons. 

After being honorably discharged from the Navy his passion was becoming a Truck Driver where he would have the ability to travel the states. Earl dedicated 40+ years as a truck driver and was known as “Empty Pockets” to all his co-workers. Earl worked for many jobs throughout his career and always stated “You will never make a Dime if you do not get out and work for it”, and “Money does not grow on trees”. 

Earl enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle, carpentry, fixing things around the house and enjoying spending time with his loving wife Barbara, kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and friends around a fire with food.
