Edith Howard Phillips

Edith Howard Phillips, 95 of NC. Hwy 22 passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Edith was born March 7, 1913 in Moore County to the late Frank and Flossie Howard. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, J. Caesar Phillips; a daughter, Gloria of the home; and a son, Julius and his wife, Linda of Chapel Hill. She is also survived by brorhers Leon Howard of High Falls, Lester Howard of Winston Salem and Wendell Howard of New Bern. She was preceded in death by brothers Ben Howard, Robert Howard and Lennings Howard also sisters Virginia Parrish and Maude Phillips.
Edith was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College and had a 40 year career as an elementary school teacher in Moore County, primarily at High Falls. She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women.
The family would like to thank her caregivers Pam Bethea, Jennifer Hussey, Judy Pope, Ethel Smith and Dorothy Thomas.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Stalnaker officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 " 8:00 PM. Friday, December 5, 2008 at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1535 North Moore Rd. Robbins, NC. 27325
