Elaine Shepley Speer, age 87, of Carthage died Friday (July 22) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.   Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, July 24th at First Presbyterian Church in Carthage with the Rev. Rick Martindale officiating.  Burial will follow at Priest Hill Presbyterian Church.   A native of Moore County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E Shepley and Blanche Davis Shepley.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison J Speer and a brother, Ernest R Shepley.   She is survived by her son, Clayton L Speer & wife, Lynn of Aberdeen; brother, Edward Shepley & wife, Lib of Carthage; granddaughter Janet Gatti and husband Mike; great grandchildren Kyle, Shelby and Peyton Gatti.    The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home.    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28387.   Fry & Prickett Funeral Home is serving the family.   Online condolences may be made at  www.PinesFunerals.com
