Eldred âa‚¬A'Chrisâa‚¬A Cirule, age 87 of Pinehurst died Monday (February 1, 2011) at her residence.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday at First Baptist Church in Pinehurst where she was an active member. The service will be conducted by the Rev. David Marks. Following the service the family will receive friends at the church. Burial will be held with military honors 10:00 AM Monday at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
A native of West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Christian and Florence Sparks Christian. She was a Petty Officer in the US Navy during WWII. Following the war she went to work for Boonton Electronics in NJ where she would later retire. She and her husband lived off and on in Florida before settling in Pinehurst, NC in 1987.
Chris and her husband enjoyed traveling and photography where they toured Europe on many occasions and also visited most of the National Parks in the United States. In Pinehurst she was a volunteer at Moore Regional Hospital for many years giving over 3,000 hours of service. She provided handmade blankets for the newborn babies and she and her husband would take pictures of the babies for the proud parents. She also enjoyed quilting and was a master gardener. She worked with Moore County 4-H where she taught gardening to the children.
She is survived by: her husband of 65 years Fred Cirule also a Navy Veteran of WWII whom she met while in service; a daughter Linda Ryan of Cranford, NJ; son Donald Cirule of Flanders, NJ; and six grandchildren; William Ryan III of Denver, CO, David Ryan of Cranford, NJ, Kathleen Ryan of Verona, NJ, Tim Cirule of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Julie Cirule of Jersey City, NJ, and Lauren Cirule of Flanders, NJ.
