Eli E. Phillips, age 89 of Herbie Road died Thursday (July 27, 2006), at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P. M. Sunday at Glendon Christian Church conducted by the Rev. Joe Johnson and the Rev. Lacy Frye. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Moore County, he was a son of the late Lonnie and Mattie Shields Phillips.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired farmer and handyman.. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives Cora Lee Fox Phillips and Mary Jane Cox Phillips, a daughter Jean Phillips Whitaker.
He is survived by: a daughter Joyce Frye and husband Wayne of Carthage; a son Sam Phillips and wife Laura of Carthage; five sisters Beatrice Nall and Bonnie Purvis both of Carthage, Alice Johnson of Graham, Helen Comer and Dorothy McFayden both of Ellerbe; a brother L. G. Phillips, Jr. of Carthage; five grandchildren; three step-grand-
children; eight great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Saturday at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
