Elizabeth Taylor Evans 93, of Southern Pines, died peacefully May 25, 2001, at Penick Village.
Libby was born March 29, 1917, in Philadelphia, PA., the daughter of Hollinshead N. Taylor and Mary Stockton Taylor. Libby had three children who preceded her in death; Louis Wilson, Stockton Hirst and Sidney Hirst.
Libby had many interests. Volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and the Emmanuel Thrift Shop played an important part in Libby's life. She was also an avid horsewoman and supporter of foxhunting, driving and eventing. There was rarely an opportunity missed for a walk with her beloved dogs in the country over the past fifty years. She loved to travel, dance and was quite a game player. Libby lived a colorful and exciting life.
She is survived by her two grandchildren; Marci Parham and husband Topper Parham of Birmingham, AL and John T. Wilson and wife Kim Wilson of Meridan, Idaho; two great grandsons Aiden Wilson and Greyson Parham; a niece Kate Hall of Philadelphia, PA and a nephew the Very Rev. Hollinshead T. 'Lin' Knight of Portland, Oregon.
A celebration of Libby's life will be held at 1:00 P. M. Thursday June 3, 2010 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

  1. Libby was a very interesting person and very much involved in the Southern Pines horse scene. She was a great seamstress also. One thing you learned very early on is that you did not bother her during Jeopardy which she loved.
