Elizabeth Gaynelle Davis, 77, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Smyrna United Methodist Church, with Reverend  James Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Rest Cemetery.

Gaynelle was born in Savannah, Ga. but lived most of her life in Moore County. She was a graduate of Elise High School. She worked for many years in the textile industry. Gaynelle was  a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was “MawMaw” to all of her loving family. The time she spent with her family was most precious. Gaynelle enjoyed cooking family meals, reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.  She loved her dog, Neelie. Gaynelle was a daughter of the late Tessie Cockman Kennedy and step daughter to the late Tracy Kennedy and was preceded in death by husband Lester Eugene Davis; son: Steven Craig Davis.

Gaynelle is survived by daughter: Annette Dunlap and husband Anthony; sons: Richard Davis, Mickey Davis and wife, Tori Miller, James Davis; grandchildren: Crystal Morgan and husband Mark, Stefanie Cole and husband Lance, Erika Neal and husband Kevin, Meredith Baird and husband Adam, Heather Beane, Steven Davis and wife Jessica, Jessica Dunlap; 9 great grandchildren; brother: Richard G. Cathcart; daughter in law: Salina Powers Davis; one niece and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
