Elsie Hall Rushing passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26 with her family by her side.

She was born in Pinehurst on October 26, 1944 to the late Lyndon Hall and Inez Puckett Hall.

Elsie was a devoted member of Middle Cross Baptist Church for more than 20 years. She enjoyed beach trips, especially Holden Beach, and loved cooking. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Hall.

Elsie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Billy Rushing. Daughters: Angie Sessoms, Sue Rushing, and Marie Mabe;  Grandchildren: Katherine Sessoms, Angela Bass Edmisten, Sarah Mabe, Brooke Sessoms, John Bass, David Bass, and Emily Mabe Matt; Great-grandson, Emmett Edmisten; Brother, Eddie Hall.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her memory to Middle Cross Baptist Church in West End or First Health Cancer Center in Pinehurst.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025 at West End Cemetery with Pastor David Reynolds officiating.

  3. Angie, Marie and Sue, I am very sorry for the loss of your dear mother. I completely understand how you feel.I remember her dedication to our Girl Scout troop. As we get older, we realize what our parents did to help mold our futures, and that’s when we also know they impacted so many others’ lives. Your mother did that for me. Those formative years are so important. My prayers are with you, your families and especially for your Daddy. 🙏 ❤️

  5. Elsie was such a wonderful person. She attended beauty school in Asheboro with my sister ( Mildred). They were very close friends. I remember Elsie also when she had the store there on Hwy 211 . Prayers being lifted up for her husband and children during this difficult.
    R.I.P. Elsie and tell Mildred hi for us in heaven.
