Ernest F. Childress, age 81 died Friday (October 7, 2011) at Peak Resource-Pinelake.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Red Branch Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Scott Innis and the Rev. Bob Morrison. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a son of the late Romie and Stacy Marsh Childress and was a retired school teacher. He taught auto mechanics at Pinecrest High School and Union Pines High School retiring in 1991. His daughter Carol preceded him in death.
He is survived by: his wife of 62 years Dorothy 'Dot' Garner Childress; daughters Hope C. Goins and husband Charles of Carthage, Debbie Christian and husband Terry of Carthage; son Reese Childress of Carthage; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home on Sunday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and other times at the residence.
