Esther Mozelle Thomas

Esther Martin Thomas, 85, of Pinehurst, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at FirstHealth Hospice House.

Born on September 11, 1939, in Moore County, to the late Earl and Edith Martin.  Esther was a graduate of West End High School and later a graduate of Appalachian State University.  Esther spent 30 plus years teaching in the Mecklenburg County school system.  After retirement, she enjoyed working in the yard.

In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by three brothers; Hal Martin, Cecil Martin, Herbert Martin, and three sisters; Earline Walker, Frances Jordan, and Betty Boroughs.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Wayne Thomas; one brother, Charles Martin; two sisters, Nancy Boroughs and Lois Rankin.  Esther is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Culdee Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Esther’s name to FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care 150 Applecross Road Pinehurst, NC 28374.

The care of Mrs. Thomas has been entrusted to Powell Funeral Home.
