Joseph Eugene "Gene" Warren, 85 of Glendon, N.C. died Sunday February 14, 2010 in his daughter's home in Southern Pines, N.C.
A memorial service conducted by Rev. Jack Phillips and Rev. Clarence Garner will be held at Cool Springs United Methodist Church in Glendon, N.C on Wednesday February 17, 2010 at 2:00pm.
Gene was born January 24, 1925 in Moore County, N.C. to James L. Warren and Martha N. Warren. He later graduated high school and served in the United States Navy in World War II. After his service in the Navy he became a barber in Carthage, N.C. for which he faithfully worked for 57 years until his health began to fail in November 2003.
Mr. Warren was a member of Cool Springs United Methodist Church in Glendon, N.C.
Gene Warren is survived by his wife Delores P. Warren of 63 years. Besides his wife Delores, he is also survived by his two daughters Jean Marie of Lumberton, N.C.; Martha Anne of Southern Pines, N.C.; his grandchildren Bradley Hussey of Lumberton, N.C and Allison Whitfield of Pinebluff, N.C.; as well as two great grandchildren Benjamin and Anthony and a great-great grandchild Peyton; one daughter-in-law Marie Hussey and one son-in-law Howard Wright Jr.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Health Hospice and Palliative Care, 150 Applecross Road,Pinehurst, N.C. 28374.
