Eva Hussey Skeen, 91,  passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Crossroads Retirement Center. Asheboro, NC, surrounded by her family.

Upon her request a Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Tommy Kidd officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM in the Church Sanctuary.

Eva was a native of Moore County.  She graduated from Westmoore High School.  She worked at Klopmans Mill, Bossong Hosiery and Ithaca Industries before her retirement.  Eva loved her family and any time that was spent with them was precious. She was a wonderful cook, always ready to share a smile, was caring and loved by all. She was a member of Needhams Grove Independent Baptist Church. Eva was a daughter of the late Charlie A. and Emma Garner Hussey and was preceded in death by daughter: Wanda Jean; sisters: Flora H. Williams, Gertrude H. Owens, Myrtie H. Ritter; brothers: Eldridge, Tracy, Clifford, Alva, Lennie Hussey; great grandson: William Baldwin; stepmother: Cora Garner Hussey.  

Eva is survived by husband of 55 years Leon; son: Donald Hussey and wife Joyce; daughter: Sandra Craig and husband Ted; grandchildren: Brandi Craig, Bethany Barden and husband Chance; Step grandchildren: Greg Morton and wife Rita, Jerry Morton and wife Melanie, Karen Baldwin and husband Gary;  9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; Sisters: Edna Coward, Marie Albright, Genevieve Murray; brother Charles Hussey and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank all the caretakers in the Memory Care Center at Crossroads, with a special thank you to those who gave “extra” special care throughout  Eva’s stay there.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroad Retirement Center, Memory Care Unit, 1302 Old Cox Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205 and Community Hospice, 533 S. Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27205.
