Evelyn B. McKenzie

Evelyn Thomas Baker McKenzie, 89, died Sunday, September 13, 2009.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Southern Pines with Dr. David Helms officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Born December 5, 1919 in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Bert W. and Lutie Poe Thomas and wife of the late Eddie Baker and John McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her son, Harold L. (Happy) Baker.
She is survived by a daughter, Bobbie Shira of Southern Pines, one son, Chuck Baker of Aberdeen, two sisters, Inez Davenport of Aberdeen and Carol Woolley of Southern Pines, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Powell Funeral Home and Crematory in Southern Pines.
