Evie Lee Phillips

Mrs. Evie Lee Hammer Phillips, 97, of Winston Salem / Robbins, NC passed away Wednesday October 1, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.

 

Funeral service will be  11:00 AM, Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Robbins First Baptist Church with the Reverend Kenneth McNeill officiating.  Burial will follow in Pine Rest Cemetery.  The family will receive friends  beginning at 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary of the church.

 

Evie was born February 12, 1917 in Bear Creek, NC to the late John and Mattie Hammer. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She was an expert seamstress and stayed busy sewing. She loved cooking and taking care of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Graham Alexander Phillips and her eleven siblings: Sadie Sizemore, Bessie Brown, Vallie, Romie, Ella, Stella, Newby, Ray, Vernon, Odell, and Leroy Hammer.

 

Surviving are her two daughters - Betty Phillips Stephenson (Cecil) of Winston Salem and Vickie Phillips McClain (Rick) of Matthews, three grandchildren - Michael Stephenson (Judy), Lisa Poplin (Johnny), Mark Stephenson (Natasha) and five great grandchildren, Ryan and Bryce Stephenson, Trey and Rachel Poplin and Stephanie Cartwright, all of Winston Salem.
