Florence Collins Hardy, 96, passed away on Tuesday (July 25, 2017) at her home outside Cameron, NC.

A celebration of life will be held 12:00 pm Friday at Cameron Baptist Church. Burial will be held prior to the service at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford. The family will receive friends at her residence at 532 James H. Rd, Cameron, NC during their time of bereavement.

She was born on December 20, 1920, in Alexandria, VA to the late James Atlas Collins and Persie Haire Collins and resided most of her youth in Sanford, NC. She lived on James H. Road in Cameron, NC for the past 60 years. After rearing her family, she worked at the Moore County Library for 23 years, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed researching her family genealogy and sharing information with other genealogists.

Her love for books continued when she created the library at her church, Cameron Baptist. She was a faithful member of the WMU and her Sunday School class and will always be remembered by the beautiful hats she wore to church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Monroe Hardy, and her sister Betty Collins Brown.

She is survived by her daughters Rhonda Ennis and husband, Jerry of Lillington, NC, Jimmy Wallace and her husband, Tom of Wilmington, NC, Margaret Humphries and her husband, Philip of Raleigh, NC, and Cheryl Gilmore and her husband, Steven of Cameron, NC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Mark Ennis, Jim Wallace (Melissa), Brad Ennis (Tracey), Scott Wallace, John Humphries, Kenneth Gilmore (Karen), and Rebecca Piotrowski (Stephen) and nine great grandchildren.
